Cat Callaghan

Cat Callaghan is a Los Angeles-based ceramicist whose work investigates the intersection of material, memory, and urban form. With a background in architecture, urban planning, and public art, her practice bridges disciplines to explore the role of place, perception, and interconnectedness. Drawing from influences as varied as neuroscience, city grids, and diasporic history, her pieces often incorporate latticed structures, light, and shadow to evoke patterns of nature and human experience. She engages clay’s sensory qualities through iterative, experimental processes - embracing chance, repetition, and material logic.

Cat is interested in how ceramics can shape collective memory, well-being, and public space. She is working towards developing site-responsive works that encourage dialogue and connection.

She is currently pursuing an MFA in Ceramics at Cal State Northridge.
